Basic Lore
The Beginning…
The land of Rathordin was created by the Ancient Dragon Thordan The Infinite, in which he created many different species. The main four species are elves, Dragonborn (dragon humanoid creatures npc.), dwarves and humans. Many other species exist in the land and some others with special monster abilities. Even though the Dragonborn won the war they don’t always see eye to eye in the way things should be run. They all have their own way of running a dungeon.
Dragonborn, Elves and Dwarves, these races had their own magic abilities
Elves had more Healing magic
Dragonborn had more Arcane abilities
The Dwarves had more Warrior type abilities.
Blue Runes give the wielder more uses of their abilities; this is called Energy Points (EP) this energy comes from the Elves.
Red runes from the hardy Dwarves to give more hit points in combat.
The Dragonborn with their extra damage, Green Runes.
Once the humans heard this, they got jealous and stole some of the runes and learnt to harness their abilities and Energy inside them.
Thus started the Rune Wars which lasted 3 years and came to a halt as the Dragonborn had not given up all their Magic or Monster Abilities. They basically won the war but it came at a massive loss to everyone.
The Dragonborn decided to build arenas and dungeons in which adventurers of all types could prove their strength and prowess through conquering monsters in various terrains to gain Fame, Fortune and most importantly gain access to all the runes. The news spread throughout the land and every peasant, prince, creature would come to fight in the arena. You gain more power and riches.
There are 4 main dragon Types: All dragons have their own alignment
Red Dragon- (Rurgar the destroyer) Follows more the path of lawful evil and has its own rules it follows. It is bent on the idea that evil is the way to rule others through fear and dictation. Strongest survive, like the use of offensive magic.
Blue Dragon- (Bellazin the balanced) Is neutral in nature and believes that being in the middle creates a balance. There must be balance in all things. Staying neutral is the only way of life.
Black Dragon- (Valore of true chaos) Is true Chaos, that chaos is what causes things to come together. That chaos makes you either lawful or chaotic. Chaos is about creating chaos and seeing how others cope with it. They believe that creating chaos makes one become stronger.
Gold Dragon- (Kellanor the hammer of justice) Is true to Lawful, be lawful good is the only way. That, law and order is the only way for peace. If you don’t believe in this path, you are a heathen and must be brought to justice. Heal all that follow this path or destroy all those who don’t.
Kraken- Is a powerful sea creature which rules part of the Seas. Has its own agendas and goals. Is followed by many sea folk mostly but others also choose to follow.
Leviathan- Rules part of the Sea and is also a formable Sea Dragon which wants to prove its worth in the world. Another creatured followed by sea folk and people living near the sea. Has its eye on growth.
So, you may choose to follow the path of the dragons but they have limited loyalty to you. You are there to prove to them you are worthy. You are in their Gauntlets, to be tried and tested. To become famous and rich. The only benefit you get from following the dragons is when the dragon you follow is on, you get a extra +1EP, meaning 1 extra skill use on all chosen skills. Plus the ability to gain some special gear once proven.
Disciples- Are full on followers who are dedicated to the dragons and act as their mouthpiece when a Dragon is not around. They have devoted themselves 100% and will always be dedicated to the colour they follow. Will wear armour or costume of a similar colour.
Costuming
Other Species most are acceptable, but you cannot dress in a racist manner as pertaining to the current political laws, which has nothing to do with us but the law. The lore is based around fantasy medieval.
Green Skins- Orcs, goblins
Scaleys- Lizard Men, Snake Men
Beast-kin- Minotaurs, Ratmen, Fauns, lionmen
Daemons- Demon like creatures
Dragonkind- Is half humanoid and half dragon, they have no wings and a dragon face.
Unknown Race- As long as the costume looks good. No Undead PCs these are left to NPC’s.
Stereotypical Behaviours of Races
The following explains the ‘typical’ view of each race in the land. This does not have to be the be truth for everyone’s character.
Humans- are loved by some species because of making the runes accessible to all. Hated by others because of it.
Dragonborn- Hated for winning the war and holding back their Real Powers, loved by some as they have found a way to share the runes and stop the fighting. These are always NPCs.
Elves- Some love them but others find their arrogance and long-life annoying, but they did create the blue Runes.
Dwarves- They are straight to the point and love to fight thus why they are loved and hated.
Green Skins- Orcs are feared because of their looks, as they are obnoxious, and brutal fighters, also make great companions for fighting the gauntlets monsters and others in battle. Goblins are good sneaks, backstabbers and have annoying features both physically and personality wise but are quite witty.
Beast-kin- These scare other species as they look one part human and the other part beast. Are nimble and strong with their animal reflexes and keen smell.
Daemons- Come from the undergrounds and caves are very formidable and have horns on their heads and sharp fangs.
Scaleys- Strong and feared creatures who have powerful features, either snake face, or lizard head both come with small tails and scales. These are always seen as strange and feared creatures but that is the ignorance of other species. They are sort after for their fearlessness in all situations.
Dragonkind- These are Dragonborn without wings. Are looked at as freaks in main society as they look like a human with a dragon head. Look more like a lizardman, but they only seem to be gold, blue, black or red in appearance. Also often get blame for the war but are quite innocent.
Fight Between Lawful and Chaos
Sometimes a war between lawful and chaos breaks out to see who is superior. Neutral Dragons will come to make sure there is always a balance. So, if there is more chaos, they will even the side until it is an equally balanced fight. Lawful Good will sometimes side with evil. As they say the enemy of my enemy is my friend, sometimes.
